NATS
NATS stands for National Apprenticeship Training Scheme, another initiative by the Government of India aimed at providing apprenticeship training to the youth in the country. The scheme was launched in 1959 and was implemented by the Ministry of Education (MoE).
The primary objective of NATS is to provide on-the-job training to students and graduates in various industries and sectors, focusing on engineering and technology. The scheme aims to bridge the gap between industry requirements and the skills of graduates by providing them with practical training and industry exposure.
Under the NATS scheme, students and graduates must undergo apprenticeship training for 6 to 12 months, depending on the industry and sector. The training is provided by industry partners, who the government selects based on their expertise and capacity to provide training.
During the training period, apprentices are provided with a stipend by the industry partner, which is typically a percentage of the minimum wage. The government also provides financial assistance to industry partners to cover the cost of training, equipment, and other expenses.
NATS also provide support to apprentices by providing them with career counselling, soft-skills training, and placement assistance. The scheme aims to enhance the employability of graduates and provide them with a smooth transition from education to employment.
